Background

Magdeleine Bouhou is just east of the town of Blaye and this proximity to the Gironde estuary plays an important role in how the vines thrive here. Directly across the estuary from Pauillac, the right bank brings thermal regulation to the surrounding land, helping to prevent freezing and ventilating the vines.

Magdeleine-Bouhou is planted on clay-limestone soil, which is typical of this region. Planted here historically we have Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. In 2021 we planted white grapes Roussanne, Semillon and Chardonnay which will in time give us an exciting new addition to our range.
